Dr. Leah Monohan
Bio
Education: Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Leah Monohan is a native Virginian. She attended the University of Virginia for her bachelor’s degree in biology and went on to attend the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (VA Tech) for her DVM degree. She has practiced in Charlottesville, Scottsville, Washington, DC, Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and the Caribbean.
Dr. Monohan has an ongoing interest in small animal medicine, especially problem-solving complicated cases, and enjoys providing collaborative medical care by working closely with pets’ families. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine as a whole is client education, which allows her to foster positive relationships and deeper understandings with pets and their owners. She adores dogs and cats equally, and for different reasons!
Outside of work, Dr. Monohan loves to spend time with her twin sons, Aidan and Riley, and her partner Alistair who is a Charlottesville native. She hopes to resume some home improvement projects, mosaic art, and watercolor painting in the future. She also enjoys gardening, playing tennis, being outdoors, and traveling, especially anywhere palm trees thrive. She is fortunate to share her home with Big Shirley, the outgoing English Mastiff, and Jacks, the amazing cat who enjoys daily walks with her mom. Dr. Monohan feels very grateful to have most of her immediate family nearby in Albemarle County.
Dr. Monohan has been a vital part of the central Virginia veterinary community for many years and purchased Preddy Creek Animal Clinic in February 2020.
